TWO!

Happy Birthday my sweet Emily!

You turned two on November 1st. You are such a fun person! You have a terrific personality and find the funny in just about everything you do. Not everything is peaches and cream, though. You still get frustrated and throw multiple, on-the-floor, tantrums a day. Usually when you are frustrated or not understood.

  • You follow directions very well--you will get your shoes, your mama (blanket), your cup.
  • You will sit and read on the couch.
  • You LOVE Curious George. When things get really bad at church, I whip out my iPhone and let you watch George on mute and you usually calm right down.
  • You sleep through the night, but we have cut down on your napping during the day.
  • You can't nap for more than 2 hours, else you will be up for hours terrorizing Lucy while she sleeps. You still love doing everything Lucy does.
  • You love Andrew and will always laugh when he's around and will usually calm down when he pays attention to you.
  • You are saying a handful of words that we understand--mama, papa, got it, bravo, that one, mas.
  • You make a lot of sounds--usually excited ones.
  • You still see Christina, your speech therapist and you are making great progress.
  • You love to snuggle and you give terrific kisses!
  • You are very active and whenever we are in public, that is usually the first comment people make about you.
  • You love food and will definitely let us know when you do not like something or when you are finished eating.
  • At your 2-year check-up you were at the 100th percentile for height (3 feet) and the 99th percentile for weight (34.74 lbs)!
  • You are wearing a size 3T in both shirts and pants, but sometimes wear Lucy's 5T shirts.

We love you so much, Emily! You are such a fun girl and you bring such joy wherever you are!

Happy Birthday!

Love,
Mom

18-month Check-up

  • She is in the 99th percentile for both height and weight--she is 34.25" tall and 31 lbs 12 oz.
  • Emily is a ball of fire! It's her way or the tantrum highway!
  • She calls her blanket "mi mi" and wants it everywhere she goes.
  • She does EVERYTHING Lucy does.
  • She calls out for "Andoo" every chance she gets when she doesn't see him immediately.
  • She loves all food still. She will eat as much as Andrew eats.
  • Her favorite foods are egg, toaster strudel, grapes, cheese and crackers, popcorn and any sweets.
  • She loves to dance. Last week at Lucy's dance class, she just HAD to join the class so she could do her dance moves!
  • She and Lucy always giggle when they are together in their room right before they go to sleep--oh, what I wouldn't do to know what they say to each other!
  • She loves Curious George.
  • She loves to read.
  • She likes to color and eat crayons.
  • She has Justin Beiber hair.
  • She is a very happy baby and a joy to have around!

15-month Check-up

Emily is 32.5 inches long and 30.6 lbs. Her doctor is worried about her weight and wants to put her (and the whole family) on 1% milk. I do not agree with him.

She has grown 2 inches in 3 months and only gained 1.6 pounds. She JUST started walking 3 days ago. I  think the milk fat is too important for brain development to forego it because he thinks Emmy is too heavy.

She got two shots and she cried and cried; Lucy cried and cried sympathy tears.

Ugghh...doctors!

*********************************************************************************

She is still wearing a 2T.

She is walking 10 to 15 steps at a time before she grabs on to something or falls.

She still loves food! She now exclusively drinks out of a sippy cup (since about a year old she has done this).

She says "Da-ee" for Daddy and "Mommee".

We think she says "Do-ee" for Doggy (Hachi).

She has started biting Lucy when they disagree (we have to put a stop to that).

She still loves her "sucky-suck" blanket and sticks her little tongue out. (Below is her sucky-suck face).

She loves to play with the train table and jump on the little trampoline.

She enjoys  watching whatever Andrew and Lucy watch, but she has a sweet spot for Curious George.

She loves to read books.

Year Check-up

Ms. Emily weighs 29 lbs and is 30.5 inches long.

She is wearing a size 2T.

She HATES cows milk, but hopefully will learn to like it soon since she had the last of her formula yesterday!

She says "Andrew" and if given the opportunity, will pull Lucy's hair like there is no tomorrow.

She loves to play by herself and cruise the furniture. She crawls like a mad woman all over the place.

She hates having socks on and can pull them off faster than I can put them on.

She says, "A da" over and over again. Cesar thinks she is saying "Gracias"

She loves to eat almost everything! When she is done eating, she will swat the spoon away and refuse to open her mouth.

She is a very happy baby and loves her brother and sister who make her laugh a lot!

10 Month Check-up

My sweet Emily is 26 lbs and 15 oz. She is 29 inches long.

Her iron is low, so she will have to start supplementing with iron vitamins. I think it's because she LOVES food so much, she eschews her formula. So, along with the vitamins, we will start giving her formula first and then food.

She had a slight fever today, so no vaccinations. Lucy had a fever plus throw-ups over the weekend, so I'm sure it's from Lucy.

She is wearing size 18 month old clothes and can wear some of Lucy's 2T clothes.

She has 3 teeth on the top and 2 teeth on the bottom.

She is getting on to her knees and will take a few crawling steps, but her preferred way of moving is the army crawl and she is quite adept at it and will give the kids a run for their money!

She LOVES scrambled eggs, refried beans, yogurt, macaroni and cheese; just about anything we are eating she wants to eat! And she will make it known by screeching like a baby eagle!

She and Lucy are now sharing a room. They seem to be doing well. At times, we can hear Lucy moving around the room and then hear Emmy start to giggle. What I wouldn't do to be a fly on their wall!

She has foregone a stuffed animal lovey, but has a blanket lovey! She will suck on the silky part of a pink blankie that I had originally gotten for Lucy, but Lucy never wanted it. It reminds me of my childhood cat, Papa Kitty. He would suck on the silky part of all blankets and they would be soaking wet when you wanted to snuggle up to it in bed. Emmy isn't as bad, but when you pull the blanket away from her, you can see her little tongue sticking out!

Below is Emmy on Saturday at Walmart.

6 Months Update

Ms. Emmy is a WHOPPING 22 lbs (my biggest baby yet!) and is 27 inches long.

She is wearing 12 - 18 month old clothes. She loves her burp cloth and sucks on it to self-sooth.

She will grab just about anything the kids put near her. She loves to be held and will give big smiles to anyone who talks to her.

She does NOT like food. I've tried mango, peaches, bananas and rice cereal and she does not like anything! She squints up her eyes and makes a disgusted face! She did like mashed up avocado and didn't make her squinty-eyed face.

She loves her jumpy and playing with her stuffed squirrel and dolphin.

She says "papa" and "dada" and when she gets upset, she will say "papa" or "dada" over and over again like a baby swear word!

She LOVES Lucy and Andrew and will giggle and smile at them.

She has 2 teeth already (I don't remember when she got them, but it was within the last month). She seems to be trying to cut her two top front teeth too.

She sleeps in her little port-a-crib next to my side of the bed and tends to only wake up once in the night for a diaper change and bottle. There are some nights that she will wake up 2 or 3 times and that really makes for a rough day at work.

She falls asleep pretty easily, but doesn't self-soothe very well if woken up in the middle of the night.

She likes to be in the mix of things and doesn't like to be left alone anywhere.

She is in a size 4 diaper!

She has been my most explosive pooper yet. For a while, she would have explosive poop everyday and poor Cesar would have to bathe her almost daily and has thrown away many a white onsie because they were beyond salvation!
